Frequently asked questions about CheatCut
Short answers about footage, prompts, edits, credits and your account, grouped by topic. If your question isn't here, contact the CheatCut team and we'll help.
Footage and prompts
- What can I upload?
- One video file per edit, in MP4, MOV, MKV or WebM, up to 12 hours long. Upload whole matches or raids with your features switched on and a short pass through your cheat menu in the same recording.
- Do I need to trim my footage first?
- No. CheatCut picks the clips itself, so upload it raw. More gameplay gives it more moments to choose from.
- Can I upload my menu recording as a separate file?
- Each edit works from one video file, so record your menu in the same session as your gameplay or join the two clips into one file before you upload.
- What should my prompt say?
- What the video is for and what must be in it: the features to show, the pace, where the menu reveal goes and how it should end. Plain words work. The shape, length and style are picked beside the prompt.
- Which games can I make showcases for?
- Any game you can record. CheatCut finds confirmed kills in shooters that show a kill feed, and menu showcases and promo cuts don't depend on one.
The cheat showcase video editor guide has example prompts, and how CheatCut works goes through an edit step by step.
Editing and revisions
- What does a finished edit include?
- The clips that show your cheat working, cut on the beat, with captions, sound, a menu reveal and an end card, in the shape, length and style you picked.
- How do I ask for changes?
- Open the finished edit and describe the change in plain words. A small change keeps the length, shape and style. A new length, shape or style is a rebuild. Each gets its fixed price before it starts.
- What happens when I approve an edit?
- Approving locks the video as final and deletes your original footage. The final video stays available to download. If you don't approve it, the edit closes automatically 24 hours after its final render.
- Can I make more than one shape from the same footage?
- Yes. Each edit exports one shape, so ask for a rebuild in the new shape or start another edit from the same footage before you approve. Approving deletes the original.
- What if editing is busy when I start?
- Your edit waits in line and starts on its own. Its credits stay reserved, not spent, while it waits, and you can leave and come back.
Everything an edit can include, and what CheatCut doesn't do, is on the features page.
Credits and plans
- How do credits work?
- Your plan adds credits every paid month. Each edit has a fixed credit price, and its credits are reserved when it starts and charged only when it succeeds.
- What happens to my credits if an edit fails?
- They come back. Reserved credits are only charged after a successful edit, so a failed or cancelled edit returns every one of them.
- Can I sell you my gameplay?
- Yes, from the Try for free page. Send a clip of your cheat in action. If we approve it, editors can buy it from our gameplay library, and you get 50% of every sale, paid in crypto. If you use your clip in your own edits, we won't sell it.
Plans, top-ups, currencies and estimates by video length are answered on the pricing page.
Account, privacy and ownership
- Do I own the videos CheatCut makes?
- Yes. The exports are yours to post wherever you sell, and you're responsible for the footage you upload and where you publish it.
- Who can see my footage?
- Your footage goes to private storage and is processed privately. It isn't shared as editing ideas for anyone else, and the original is deleted when you approve the final edit or the edit closes.
- How do I get an account?
- Choose a monthly plan and pay. Your receipt email has a link to create your account, and your credits are kept for that email.
- How do I contact support?
- Use the contact page. It has the support address and what to include so we can answer without asking twice.
The privacy policy and terms have the detail, and the contact page has the support address.
